Approaching #T20k and I’m taking a holiday! :D

Why do we take holidays?
To escape the daily grind of the office and catch up on life?
To get out of the house and jump on a plane and go somewere new?
To spend a weekend on a beach somewhere just chilling out…?
To take a break from the norm, even if just for a little while.
I have been on lots of physical holidays, but never an online one. Until now!
A friend of mine posted this a while ago and I’ve decided it’s actually quite a nice idea.
While I don’t think I could avoid all other media, I’m going to take the idea of this tweet and enjoy a week off all this social media.
Not checking the PING of Twitter, ignoring the BLOOMP of Facebook and no +1 over on Google.
Why the hell would I do such a thing?
Well it can get a bit stale without a break, and I talk too much sometimes without giving myself time to think about things and explore my own mind, so that’s what I’ll do. For a little while EnGy will take a break and [insert my real name here] will be front and centre.
I’ve got my blog, the big stories will still get talked about, I’ll call my friends, I’ll email people I know, but it’s about disconnecting from the Hive Mind / Collective and the instant updates and slowing things down for 7 days and coming back fresh and new.
What will I miss?
A handful of storms in tea-cups, a thousand spelling mistakes, a few memes and a nyan cat or two. I don’t think I’ll miss out on many of my social goings on, I still have my phone and I’m not going all hermit
So that’s just a quick post about what I’m going to be doing for 7 days starting today, and when I get back I’ll have lots more to say
If you want to catch up in real life, hit the “contact me” part of this site and shoot me a message and we’ll do it (or if I follow you on Twitter DM me your details and I’ll give you a call, I’ll get the email)
Almost time to remove the apps from my phone and turn off all the notifications. I’m going dark
